How it all started??
Hey...um Hi! Hope you are doing fine! Let me start by saying Ahhhhhhhhhh! I can’t believe that I
started a blog! Well now I have to believe it since I am writing this. Well before I start to narrate my
slightly boring and a whole lot of inspirational (wink XD) journey (which has just begun), let me write
a disclaimer first.
DISCLAIMER: Okay first things first, I am not a writer, I am an amateur artist. Although I have this
awesome imagination full of space and stars and moon and so on, I am not that good with words.
The only reason of me starting this blog is to share my journey of finding my passion and working
towards my dreams. To share my thoughts, my learnings, my mistakes and also some dramatic life
stories and experiences (which I’ll totally exaggerate).
Another thing, I am also not so good at grammar! So there may be several mistakes that I’ll be
making along the way, so please bear with me. You can also suggest/criticize (obviously in a polite
way) and point out my mistakes, I’ll surely learn from those and improve my writing skills.
Next one may sound a little harsh, so sorry in advance. I am not going to share about who I am, what
I do for a living etc. At this point I am not so
comfortable sharing personal details. Maybe someday, when I am comfortable enough, I shall
introduce myself. FOR NOW you can address me with as an aspiring artist, color drill (which is my
Instagram art account name) or a dreamer or anything you feel like after seeing my artworks!
Also art in my blog would refer to painting/sketching/drawing unless I specifically mention.
This is all that I can think of now. Also I have an Instagram page and a YouTube channel by the name
color_drill, and color drill! Do check it out
Welcome to “A journey with hues”, my art journey. Here it goes…
Art- this word may have a dozen of different meanings to you, but to me, it’s an emotion! It’s a
feeling! Whenever I hear this word, all I can think of is colours, lots and lots of different shades and
hues! Like many of you, I was introduced to art during my kindergarten. The pack of crayons,
colourful sketch pens and a new drawing book whose sheets were as white as milk with a smooth texture were my earliest art memories. I don’t exactly remember what I used draw, but all I
remember is the happy feeling that I got when I saw my new drawing book and my new set of
crayons that I used to get at the beginning of the school year. I used to love drawing flowers, with big petals and humongous leaves. I used to draw triangle hills
and zig zag rivers and filled them up with different colours using crayons. When I got introduced to
watercolours, I was so happy. I used to try and mix several colors and lots and lots of water( I took
the name figuratively, a little too much!) which was generally fun but usually I ended up having
either a big tear or a big hole in my paper which really frustrated me till no end and I eventually
gave upon watercolours. I never realized the true power of watercolours until recently. I learnt that
it’s quite easy to work with watercolours with a little bit of technique and lots of practice. I also
found out that there are different papers and techniques on which I can write an entire chapter,
probably in the future! Any ways coming back to the story, oil pastels and sketch pens were my
favourites. Okay cut to high school, I used to love painting and doing all sorts of art and crafts, but
never for once I thought that one day, art would become such an important part of my life. During
my pre university college days, although I did not paint that often, but I used to doodle a lot in my
textbooks which again is quite a lengthy story and needs a separate chapter altogether. Next, during
my college years, which was another difficult phase of my life, I started painting again. I started using acrylics and that was the time, when I truly saw the potential of art and its importance in my life!
And now here I am, making art every day and don’t want my life to be any other way! So this was
more of an intro than where it all started stuff! As of now, I have not planned exactly what I would
write in this blog. As I said before I will mostly write about my art journey, how I chose to follow my
passion, my dreams, my mistakes , and all the lessons I am learning along the way along with a few
stories here there about how art made my life not so boring.
Have an artsy day😁
Hey there
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading your post. It felt good to see how this pandemic has pushed you to write your heart out. I hope you post regularly.
Out of all the conventional errors one could spot and point you out, I am choosing to divulge the biggest one(in my opinion of course). I think that you were being too wordy, in an attempt to make it look more expressive. Ironically, it doesn't work that way.
Audience reading anything like this, seek to get inspired to create a mental picture of your personality and try to relate to the content you write. Great art is like a mirror, it inspires everyone differently by showing them their own thoughts. On the same note, do you not think that being "artsy" should reflect more and show less?
